What is Yoga?

Sivananda yoga is a form of hatha yoga that emphasizes on maintaining the health and mental well-being of practitioners. It aims to retain vitality of body through five core principles that are
Class opens with relaxation and chanting, followed by three rounds of cleansing breath and six rounds of alternate nostril breathing. Students then warm up with sun salutations and leg lifts. Class includes, but is not limited to, the following 12 poses which strengthen, stretch, and relax every muscle, joint and organ in the body: Headstand; Shoulderstand; Plough; Fish; Sitting Forward Bend; Cobra; Locust; Bow; Spinal Twist; Crow; Standing Forward Bend; and triangle. There are modifications available for every pose to accommodate all levels of practice and all body types.
